Many travellers also choose this option because it opens the door to exploring northern Germany before crossing into Denmark, creating a longer and more varied European adventure.

There are camping sites throughout the country and nearly all welcome campervans and motorhomes.
Can I free camp in Denmark?
Free camping/wild camping is not permitted in this country in a campervan or motorhome. You can pack a tent and take advantage of the ”right to roam” and camp anywhere.
Ask at the local tourist office about parking overnight on farms. This is a very popular option for many Danish families.
Rest stops offer free overnight parking and services such as waste disposal and showers etc. During summer months there are more of these. A small fee may be charged.

When is the Best Time to Visit Denmark?

Spring (March to May) is one of the best times to visit if you prefer quiet roads and mild temperatures. Gardens and forests burst into life, attractions are less crowded, and campsites begin reopening after winter. It's an excellent season for cycling, hiking and exploring Denmark's historic towns before the summer rush.
Summer (June to August) is the most popular time for campervan holidays. Days are long, temperatures are pleasantly warm (but generally not hot), and Denmark's beaches, islands and outdoor cafés burst into life.
