Norway has the reputation of being quite a pricey place to travel around. There are cheap and free places to spend the night. We find a quick search of other traveller's blogs a really useful way to start planning a road trip.
Other campers are will share best deal information and top sites and great bargains. By self-catering on board good savings can be made. The markets and food stores offer a great range of fresh and locally sourced food too. All good for a night in or a bbq outside under the stars...or under the midnight sun in the summer!
Norway also has a good policy on free-camping and there are plenty of Aires to stay at too. Watch out when you are driving as the elks and reindeer do wander. Try and fit it a whale watch.
Norway is a safe and spectacular place to visit. The range of vehicles start at the classic vw California pop-tops to 4-berth and 6-berth motorhomes. The larger motorhomes have room for all the family and the convenience of on-board showers and wc's.
There is plenty of room for the whole family. The campervans and motorhomes have different layouts. If it is a large fixed bed at the rear of the camper or bunk beds for the children, check out the day and night time layout pictures.
The mini-campers are great if you are on a budget. Low fuel costs and generally cheap to run. Sharing is also a good way to save money and the large 6-berths fit in 6 people comfortably.
Most of the campervans and motorhomes are under 2 years old. Use the filters on the left hand side of the page to source older vehicles that are often cheaper.
As always, book early for cheaper rates and book to travel outside peak times of July and August. Allow for tolls and higher fuel costs. You will be rewarded with a great road trip and spectacular scenery.
Bike racks are an option too. There are many national cycle ways across Norway. Park up, bike for the day and return to a home cooked meal. Can't get better than that!

Yes you can book to collect in one city or airport and return to another. Please book well in advance for this option as many rental companies will only allow one-way rentals if they know ahead of time. Relocation deals are sometimes available. These are highlighted on our website when you go through the booking process or are finding out the costs of renting a campervan in Norway. Check out both directions for your one-way rental as there may be discounts on one direction but not on another.
A Bond can vary between 10,000-26,200 NOK (amount does vary between rental companies) and is required at the rental counter. This is a preauthorisation which means the bond amount is frozen (or reserved) on your credit card, but not deducted with Touring Cars.
You will need to have a credit card to cover the insurance excess. Check that the credit limit on your card is more than the bond/insurance excess amount
You have to be at least 21 years old for the smaller campervans and over 25 for the larger motorhomes
Yes there is the option to rent bicycles and a bike rack with your hire with some companies. Bike racks are often a free optional extra.

We always state the age of the campers in the specifications. The vehicles that are older will be cheaper than the campervans and motorhomes that are new to the fleet.
You can drive to any country within the EU. Please check with us before you book if you want to travel outside of the EU as there may be additional insurance options that you need to consider. Some countries are not covered by insurance and so you are prohibited to travel there.
Driving in snow or heavy storms during the winter has its own challenges in Norway.
Always make sure you check ahead before setting off on a long journey during the winter months and make sure you have winter tyres, chains if required and plenty of food, water and fuel on board in case you have to wait out a storm.
