Why Choose Campervan Hire in France?
France is so well-suited for a road trip, and there are many sites to see. If you’re looking for a beach holiday or a mountain bike adventure, then making a camper a base offers a home away from home every day and night of your stay.
Order bike racks, or book a motorhome with a garage for all your adventure equipment. These are handy spaces to store extra boots, beach gear or sports equipment.
The top names in motorhome hire have depots right across France. We have long relationships with all of them, so we can pass on very competitive rates to all of our customers. This is supported by our award-winning reservation team, who will help you make the right choice of campervan for your holiday in France.
Campervan Hire in France: Find The Right Motorhome Hire for You
The choice of campervans and the number of rental agencies in France is extensive. Many depots offer to store your car while you go off and explore the national parks, stunning countryside and rich culture of France.
France is well known for its free wild camping and cheap camping options throughout the countryside. These are very popular and are placed at the most convenient places on the outskirts of towns and villages to allow easy access to sites, shops and activities.
The campervan and motorhome rental agencies that can be booked securely through us online at discounted rates are:
Anywhere Campers
Autovan Express
Avis Explore
Blacksheep Campervan Rental
Euromotorhome Rental
Since we have long-established relationships with these agencies and we book many motorhomes with them each year, we can pass on the excellent competitive rates we receive to our customers.
France Motorhome, Camper and RV Options
Next to each listed campervan or motorhome, there is a review for you to check out. The age of all vehicles is also listed. We’ll note that an older, cheaper vehicle may get a high review but be cheaper than a newer, more expensive one if it has been well looked after. The reviews also reflect customer service.
The campers range in size and budget. The smallest campers are based in Lille, Lyon, Biarritz, Marseille, Annecy, Paris, Grenoble, Ajaccio, St-Malo, Vannes, Nantes, Angers, Bordeaux, Provence, Montpellier, Colmar, Nice, Strasbourg, Bastia, Rennes, Clermont, Vichy and Caen. These are sleeper cars or camping cars, and for those on a limited budget, they offer the cheapest way to tour France.
They’re basic, but they have everything you need for a camper road trip. A simple gas cooker, a cold box and a washing-up bowl mean you can make meals on the go. Buying from local shops and markets that offer fresh, quality ingredients gives you the chance to make gourmet meals on the go.
The next size up from the sleeper cars and low-top campers is the VW camper with a pop-top that sleeps four people. These also have cooking facilities on board and are a great budget option.
For those wanting an on-board shower and WC, the van conversions, 4-berth C-class, 6-berth C-class, and A-class vehicles provide space in abundance, with a fully functional kitchen and many different sleeping options.
There are also motorhomes with a fixed double bed, and those suitable for groups of friends or families that have bunk beds at the rear. Then there are those 4 and 6 berths that have two or three double beds or a mixture of all three.
Motorhome Hire: Cooking in a Luxury Campervan
While the very smallest campers have only a single gas cooking ring, soups, stews, curries, risottos, paellas or just tins of beans can all be cooked on one ring with a little planning.
Larger Campers have more than one ring, so you can get a little more inventive in these. You’ll find that most grocery stores have fresh gnocchi and tagliatelle, pesto, cheeses, meats, heirloom tomatoes… you’ll have a great time cooking with Italian ingredients, we just know it.
All campervans and motorhomes have a fridge on board for this reason (and because we want your wine to be cold, too). The smallest campers have a chilly bin or cool box. Larger motorhomes have a good-sized fridge, often with a small freezer compartment that is large enough for a packet of peas or ice cubes.
When parked up and connected to the mains, the fridges run off mains electricity. On the road, they are powered by the onboard batteries. In some campers, the fridges are three-way and run on gas, too.
Most larger campervans and motorhomes also have a microwave in the kitchen, which will only work off mains electricity.
Taking a Shower and Using the WC in a Campervan or Motorhome
The hot water for the shower is heated by gas. This will work as long as there is gas and water in the tanks.
The toilet is a cassette toilet. Empty this regularly. The cassette is filled with a blue liquid that breaks down all solids. There are dump stations on all campsites and in some public areas where campervans and motorhomes park up. Hose out the cassette after emptying and replace the blue tablet. This will ensure that everything is kept hygienic. The cassette is accessed from outside the campervan.
