The most popular place to start your campervan hire in England from is London. The city offers the widest range of rental companies, campervans, and prices compared with the rest of England, as well as being a good base to travel around the country, or hop over to Dover to cross the channel to Europe.
Here are the other cities you can travel to in your campervan or motorhome in United Kingdom.
The basic sleeper cars are available to hire from rental companies such as Spaceships or Bunk Campers, and can be used to travel around the UK or overseas in Europe, before being returned to their depot in England. In this type of rental, you get basic cooking facilities to the rear of the vehicle, as well as a double bed that has to be made up each night. They are a great option for campervan hire on a budget as they are cheap to run and can be driven by those over the age of 21.
Drivers who are 25 or over have a much wider choice when it comes to campervan and motorhome hire in England. All drivers need to have a full driving licence and hold a credit card.
For those on a slightly higher budget, there is an extensive range of 2-berth, 4-berth, 6-berth and 7-berth campervans and motorhomes available to hire, often with showers and toilets in-built. Many of the smaller campers are VW campers. The larger motorhomes are often built on a Fiat or Ford chassis, making them easy to drive.
There are various layouts that suit different groups of people. Couples who want a fixed double bed at the rear will find a 2-berth campervan with shower/toilet perfect for them. If you are a lone traveller who likes a little more space, there are also 2-berths with single beds.
Renting anything above a 2-berth campervan will offer a range of different bed layouts, which can be checked out on "Vehicle Specs" for any given camper.
If you are going to be doing a lot of activities and need a lot of equipment on your campervan holiday, for extra space, rent a motorhome with a garage at the rear. This is useful storage space for surfboards, golf clubs or other sporting gear. It can also hold chairs and barbecues, perfect for those warm summer evenings. Many campervan hire companies offer bike racks also.
Scotland has its own page here.

Each rental company will have different rules and guidelines when renting a campervan from them, so make sure you choose the one which will suit you most of all. A very popular route campervan holiday-ers take is between Edinburgh and London, with multiple scenic stops along the way. Often, motorhomes can be hired in London, and returned in Edinburgh, depending on the company. This maximises the time you have on your trip to fully enjoy yourself without having to loop back.
Another beautiful route to take is to the South-West of England. One of the most picturesque parts of the UK, Devon and Cornwall offer a holiday to be remembered. Visit the quaint fishing port of Port Issac or spend a night in Newquay to experience one of the best surfing beaches in the UK! Be aware, the size of the campervan you choose to hire may make it difficult to travel down the Cornish lanes, so make sure you take that into consideration when looking at campervan hire.
For more of the classic countryside experience, take your campervan to the beautiful Lake District! One of the UK's National Parks, the Lake District offers a multitude of walks across the North York Moors, finishing in a cosy pub or cafe. When you're finished exploring the great British countryside, you can drive your campervan to one of the local seaside towns of Whitby or Scarborough to enjoy an ice cream or two.
Festival rentals are available, but we strongly recommend early booking particularly for the Glastonbury Festival in June, as campervans get booed up quickly for this weekend.
