• Don't drive at night. Early mornings and dusk are also risky because of large wandering animals that are difficult to see and will often sleep in the middle of the road at night. Kangaroos and emus behave eratically and if you hit one with your camper it will cause significant damage.
• Take a good medical kit.
• There is very limited signal for phones so if you are travelling remotely then rent a satellite phone. Let someone know before you head off into the outback and give an estimated return day. You can let the local police force know. If you do have a mechanical problem or something happens to you or your vehicle you must stay with your vehicle at all times.
