Which Britz Campers should I rent in New Zealand?

Britz are good value campers that are under 5 years old. 

Decide on your sleeping arrangements! Some campers only have double beds and some have single or twin beds.

All are Automatic campers. All are certified self-contained. All are diesel so you will have to pay the Road User Recovery Fee on completion of your rental. 

• 2 berth Venturer Sleeps 2 in two singles or a double.  

• 2+1 berth Venturer Plus Sleeps 3 in 3 single beds or a double and a single bed.  

• 3 berth Hi-Top Sleeps 3 in one double and one single bed.  Automatic camper.

• 4 berth Voyager Sleeps 4 in two double beds.  

• 4 berth Explorer Sleeps 4 in two double beds.  

• 4 berth Discovery Sleeps 4 in two double beds

• 6 berth Frontier Sleeps 6  in three double beds

Where are the Britz branch locations?

Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown. All depots are open 7 days a week except Christmas Day. The Britz depots are close to all Airports and Britz supplies free transfers to the depots.

Why should I rent one-way in New Zealand?

New Zealand is a long country. If you rent from one-depot and return to another you can maximise your time here.

When is the best time to rent a campervan in New Zealand?

Winter is mild and can be wet, especially in the North Island. There is snow on the ground on both islands during winter.

Both Spring and Autumn are great times as weather is mild and the Summer is filled with long sunny days. So New Zealand is an all year round destination for campervan hire.

Can I take my campervan on the ferry between the North and South islands?

Yes, definitely take the ferry. There isn't the option to leave your camper on one island and return to another.

Insurance using a Britz campervan

Please explain the insurance cover I get when I book a Britz Camper van in New Zealand.

Every Britz campervan and motorhome is covered by insurance. There is an insurance excess that has to be covered by a security bond. This is the level of your liability in the event of any damage to the camper. You will be offered additional insurance to reduce your level of liability by paying an additional daily fee. You must hold a credit card with enough credit to cover the security bond/insurance excess.

Can I hire bikes in New Zealand with Britz?

Yes, bikes and bike racks are available for rental with your campervan or motorhome in Christchurch only.

How long should I take to see the whole of New Zealand?

We would suggest that if you want to see the highlights of both islands at a leisurely pace then take 5 to 6 weeks.

What are the age restrictions on Britz New Zealand?

Drivers need to be 21 years old and above.

What is the Road User Charge Recover Fee?

This is charged applies to diesel campers only and is calculated at the end of the rental based on the distance in kms travelled. You can pre-pay as explained during the quote/booking process.

Best Britz for couples or two friends travelling together

There is quite a choice of two-berth campers from Britz in Australia:

• 2-berth Action Pod is a low top automatic budget camper with a double bed. Single burner cooking stove. This camper is not self-contained. It is recommended that you stay on campsites.

• 2-berth HiTop two -berth with one double bed. Inside kitchen and room to stand up(1.86m 6ft 1”). This is the only petrol vehicle that Britz runs in Australia. No onboard shower or toilet. It is more spacious than the Action Pod.

• 2-berth Venturer - sleeps two in a large double bed or two singles. Equipped with both shower and toilet. Suits 2 people looking for more comfort on their Australian adventure.

• 2+1 Venturer - like the 2-berth but with an added bed for a little one.

• 4 berth Discovery - small automatic motorhome with two double beds, a shower, toilet. Suits two adults who want a bit more space. Shower and toilet.

• 4 berth Voyager camper - sleeps 4 in two doubles. Very economical. No shower or toilet but good kitchen.

• 4-berth Explorer - full sized motorhome with two double beds, shower, toilet and kitchen with gas cooker, microwave and fridge. Suits families, groups of friends or couples who are looking for more room. 

• 6-berth Frontier is the largest of Britz motorhome fleet with three double beds, full kitchen, shower, toilet and good storage. Choose this one for a family holiday or a group of friends on an Australian adventure.

Britz RV Rental in the USA

Britz have one model of motorhome for rent in America. It sleeps four in two double beds. One above the cab and the second is a fixed bed in the rear of the motorhome. This small RV is available from Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, Orlando, San Francisco and Seattle. Britz shares their depot with Road Bear. One-way rentals are available on request.

Britz has a fleet of Toyota 4WDs to rent in South Africa for a real African experience.

There are six models to choose from:

• Toyota Landcruiser Orion - single cab with a pop-top roof built in Africa. This 4x4 4.2lt diesel engined camper will take you anywhere. Sleep in a double bed. Small kitchen, toilet. Hot and cold water, fridge and air con.

• Toyota Navi 4WD single-cab sleeps two inside this truck camper. Kitchen, exterior shower, toilet.

• Toyota Double Cab for four people sleeping in two roof tents. Onboard kitchen with fridge

• Toyota Land Cruiser Double Cab with two roof tents. Cook top, and air-con in the driver's cab. The Land Cruiser is a powerful 4x4 vehicle built to explore the African bush.

• Toyota Landruiser Single Cab is also a powerful off-road 4x4 camper suited to the extremes of exploring Africa.

• Toyota Single Cab Hilux is a 5 speed manual with two beds in a roof tent.This 4x4 camper is well equipped for an African adventure.

How old do I have to be to rent a 4wd camper from Britz in South Africa?

You have to be over 23 years old. You can travel through South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia. One-way rentals are available on request.
