Denmark is not the cheapest country to rent a campervan or motorhome. Consider collecting your campervan or motorhome from Hamburg in Germany that is just south of the border. Daily rates are cheaper here and the range of campers, motorhomes and camping cars is much greater.

Aahurs to Copenhagen is 178km via ferry
Odense to Copenhagen is 250km via ferry.
There are camping sites throughout the country and nearly all welcome campervans and motorhomes.
Free camping/wild camping is not permitted in this country in a campervan or motorhome. You can pack a tent and take advantage of the ”right to roam” and camp anywhere.
Ask at the local tourist office about parking overnight on farms. This is a very popular option for many Danish families.
Rest stops offer free overnight parking and services such as waste disposal and showers etc. During summer months there are more of these. A small fee may be charged.

Over 200 campsites stay open during the winter months. A road trip during the winter months is spectacular. Roads are kept open and treated. Campervans and motorhomes are heated so cosy up on the long winter nights and enjoy exploring during the day.
One-way rentals save time and you can plan your route to see everything from wild, untouched nature reserves, forests, lakes and for the history buffs there are ancient towns, castles, fishing villages and cities to explore.
Rent or take your own bikes as it is bike friendly and it’s the best way to explore cities.

There are two bridges where tolls are charged. The Great Belt Bridge and the Oresund Bridge that links with Sweden. Payment can be made at a toll booth.
The word ”Ferry” in Danish is faerger or bilfaerger. Save time by using the extensive ferry network. There are 39 different ferry routes that permit motorhomes and campervans on board.
The most popular time to visit is during the summer months from June until August. Winter travel is also popular even though temperatures drop to -1C.
