Canberra has a limited choice of Campervans to hire. Calypso Campers offer small hitop campers for rent. If you are looking to rent a larger campervan or motorhome then consider collecting your vehicle from one of the following depots.

  • Melbourne to Canberra approx 660kms direct route. Takes just over 7 hours to drive.

Unlike many parts of Australia that are either tropical or sub-tropical Canberra has four distinct seasons.

  • Spring in Canberra is between early September and late November
  • Summer starts in December and runs through until the end of February.
  • Autumn see the temperatures dropping from the start of March to the end of May.
  • Winter is from June until the end of August.

Summer temperatures in Canberra average around 27ºC (80.6ºF). Great weather for being outside and exploring the lakes, parks, rivers and reserves.

The Calypso depot is 25kms from Canberra airport and 15kms from the centre of Canberra.

Is Unlimited Mileage included in Campervan Rental Rates? Yes, all campervans and motorhomes for hire in Australia include unlimited mileage. So you can travel all the way to New South Wales, or any destination you’d love to see! But sometimes there are offers on limited mileage but this is very rare. And watch for speed limits, depending on whether you’re on the federal highway or monaro highway.

How old do I have to be to hire a campervan rental in Australia? There are some companies that will rent you sleeper cars or camping cars to drivers who are 18 but generally the minimum age is 21. There may be addtional insurance to pay for drivers under 25 depending on the size of the campervan or motorhome. The larger campers are only rented out to drivers over 25 years old.
