Let the rental company know the age of your children so that safety seats can be arranged.
Have a rough plan and work out roughly how many miles you are likely to travel as unlimited mileage packages are often unnecessary and expensive.
Vancouver Island is definitely worth a visit but please pre-book your ferry and build the cost of the ferry into your budget.
Burning Man and other festivals. If you are considering renting an RV to travel to Burning Man or other festivals there will be an additional payment. There are penalties for not complying with this. Many companies will not rent to festival goers.

Winterization in Vancouver does not always happen. A Vancouver winter may only be very wet with high rainfall and winterization does not need to be implemented. But if Winterization is to happen because of predicted freezing temperatures then it usually starts around 1 October and finishes at the end of April. This means that there is no running water in the RVs to prevent pipes freezing and causing damage and customers are advised to stay in campgrounds and use camp facilities during this time.
You will also need to keep the RV plugged into the mains overnight to ensure the batteries stay charged. Batteries loose power very quickly in sub-zero temperatures.
Vancouver is serviced by all the main rental companies in Canada. If you are two adults and looking for the cheapest and most compact campers then choose from the truck campers TCs or a van conversions VCs.

One-way rentals are permitted in Canada between Canadian cities. If you are considering a one-way rental book well in advance. Popular one-way rentals are between Vancouver and Calgary - allow about 14 days to make this trip via Kamloops.
One way rentals Vancouver to Whitehorse is a great trip. Allow at least 14 to 16 days.
Vancouver to Calgary allow 14 days
If you collect your rv rental in Canada you are permitted to visit the USA but your camper must be returned to a depot in Canada. One-way rentals are not available between Canada and the USA even when a company has depots in both countries. There is no additional charge for taking your rental across the border.
Special permission is required for northern travel. Many rental companies do not allow vehicles to be taken north of State Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Prince George. Also not beyond State Highway 97 between Prince George and Fort St John.
Reach downtown Vancouver easily from the airport using the Skytrain. Spend the first couple of days visiting downtown. Parking an RV in Vancouver city can be a problem. Vancouver has a great transport system so park on the outskirts and travel in by bus or train.
TELUS World of Science in Vancouver. Visit mid-week and on dry days - suitable for all ages.
Visit the Vancouver Lookout observation deck early on to really appreciate the beauty of Vancouver situated at Harbor Centre.
Stanley Park an unmissable experience to get a real feeling of the mountains, lakes and forests surrounding Vancouver. Also visit Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension Bridge Park for a walk on the wild side!
Vancouver Aquarium is a must too.
Visit Whistler. Whistler is only 75 mile from Vancouver drive vis a scenic road called the Sea to Sky Highway.
Vancouver Island - take the ferry to Victoria and start exploring the unspoilt scenery of Vancouver Island.

Spring/Summer is between April and October so warm days and not much rain. If you are travelling in a camper van then you can travel all year round. Check the winterization options. It is less busy during September and October. The rainy season starts in November and continues until March.
