Byron Bay is warm all year round. Summer is between December and February and temperatures average around 27C (around 81F). There are often showers during the evenings. The sea is warm at this time of year. Byron Bay is at its busiest during summer as many Australians take their summer vacation at this time and the school holidays are also taken during Summer.
Winters are not that cool. The coldest months in Byron Bay are between June and August where temperatures are between 11.7 ºC to 19.4 ºC - perfect weather for touring in a campervan! Autumn is between March and May. Average temperatures are in the mid 20's. The sea is warm and there are fewer people than in summer as the school holidays have finished.
The drive from Sydney to Byron Bay is just over 900 kms and takes about 5 days in your campervan to take in the spectacular sites and beaches. It's known as the legendary Pacific Coast Highway.
