Campervan Hire for Glastonbury

Festival Campervan and Motorhome Hire

I have been going to Glastonbury since 2000. During that time I have missed a few due to fallow years - the farm is “rested” every five years and also because I just haven’t managed to get tickets.

I have been during the worst thunder and lightning storms and also during hot, hot, hot days! It doesn’t matter what the weather is, the Glastonbury festival is the best in the world!

If you have never been then what are you waiting for! Just get registered, and join the mayhem in trying to get a ticket. Get all your friends, your friends’ friends and their friends’ friends’ friends to try and get you in. If you want to rent a campervan then don’t get a coach ticket. You need to get a weekend ticket.

That is the hardest part of the whole experience and what is more, you don’t even know when you get a ticket, who is going to be playing. No one knows who will be on the Pyramid stage or on any of the other 100 stages at the time you get your ticket.

There will be people from all over the world competing for a ticket. They will be descending on that little (!) farm in Somerset from as far afield as New Zealand and Australia. They will be arriving from all over Europe and from the USA and Canada and everywhere else in the world.

For five days the festival unites. You will experience what others only know having been.

Now, you may want a little comfort in your life. You may not be a tent-dweller by nature. That’s where we come in. Rent a little home on wheels, a haven, a clean and quiet space in the form of a campervan.

It may be a 6-berth all-singing-all-dancing motorhome with onboard shower and toilet or it may be a happy little hi-top camper but whatever you rent, it will be a little luxury that you can return to each day or night or whatever time you manage to stumble in. Be prepared to enter Glastonbury time where day becomes night and night becomes day.

Here are some of our top tips for making your Glastonbury festival a little bit more special.

Glastonbury Festival: Need to Know.

If you book a campervan hire and you don’t have a festival ticket, you will lose your deposit. Everyone who stays in the campervan has to have a ticket. Do not forget to book a separate campervan camping ticket. They are released after the ticket sales have been released. Campervan campsite tickets for 2024 cost £200.00. £300.00 for a large site.

Glastonbury festival campsites

Sleeping in campervans in the regular car parks is not permitted.

There are four sites for campervans:

  • East Quiet - use blue route

  • East General - use blue route

  • Bath & West Regular - use white route. Free shuttle-bus service during Festival.

  • Bath & West for vehicles over 8m - use white route. Free shuttle-bus service during Festival.

There are other campsites close to the festival where you can book a campsite.

Campervans and Motorhomes under 8m long can be on the Glastonbury Festival Site. Campervans longer than 8m long will need to book a site at the Bath and West Showgrounds.

If your camper/converted car only has a foam mattress and a bucket and is not built for living in, it will be refused entry onto the site and be sent to the car park. No sleeping in cars is permitted.

The campsite is outside the perimeter fence so you will have to leave the festival to walk in and out every day - keep hold of your re-entry ticket and keep your original ticket and wristband on you at all times. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the perimeter fence and then another 10 minutes to reach the main stages.

Top tips for campervan hire for Glastonbury festival UK

  • Get there early. Campsites for campervans are open from midday on Tuesday. You can leave at any time by 9pm Monday. Traffic is heavy both arriving and leaving the site. Allow plenty of time to get your campervan back to the depot on time.

  • There are no electrical hook-ups on site so you will be relying totally on your leisure batteries so start the engine every morning to recharge the batteries. No generators are permitted on site.

  • Awnings are permitted.  Car space is available next to the campervan but there isn’t room for both a car and an awning. Book as soon as you get a festival ticket. Demand is very high. Try to collect on a Tuesday morning and return on a Monday afternoon as a minimum.

  • Fill all water tanks. Fill the fridge. Take full insurance cover. Register two drivers. All campervans are self-drive. Check the minimum age when booking.

  • No glass bottles are allowed on site.

  • Official site for more information: https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/

When is the Glastonbury Festival?

Wed, 26 Jun 2024 – Sun, 30 Jun 2024. The music starts on Friday but there is plenty to entertain you from Wednesday.

Where is the Glastonbury Festival?

Worthy Farm, Worthy Lane, Pilton, Shepton Mallet, Somerset 8 miles from Glastonbury town.

Why do festival goers book campervans for the Glastonbury festival?

  • It has been known to be wet and muddy. Stay dry and warm in a campervan.

  • It has also been known to be very hot and sunny. Stay cool and have your own onboard shower.

  • Onboard toilet. Sleep in a real bed. Cook your own meals. Keep beer and wine cool. Recharge phones, cameras, laptops with inverter on leisure batteries. (take car charger and power packs)

  • Pack your camper with all your clothes, toiletries, alcohol, cameras, phones, etc. No need to haul all your gear into the site and put up your tent.

What should I take to the Glastonbury festival?

If you have a campervan then you can pack for all seasons. Take plenty of plastic bags for wet gear. Take plenty of sunscreen and a hat for the sunny days. It gets cold at night. If you plan to watch the last band on the pyramid stage, dress warm. Then when you start partying after that it’s easy to take stuff off.

I always wear walking boots. Many wear wellies (Shirley Bassey had £3000.00 diamante wellies) Be prepared to walk a lot.

Keep drinking - water. If it’s hot you will need to keep hydrated. Take something to sit on. You will see a lot of camping chairs, picnic blankets. People set up for the afternoon and evening in one place.

The day starts around midday. Spend your afternoons wandering and enjoying the festival and all it has to offer. Return to the campervan around 6pm and change for the evening. Eat!

Keep snacks in a small rucksack and carry your own alcohol. Glastonbury has no limits on how much you take in with you. Don’t take anything in glass. It will be confiscated.

Take a torch for wandering around in the dark trying to find your camper. Take a phone charger, or battery pack - even a solar pack.

Use the app WhatThreeWords to locate your campervan. Set it up before you leave and then you will find your way home with ease. Use the app to find friends too.

Can I leave my car at the depot?

Many of our suppliers will let you leave your car at the depot either for free or for a small fee. This means that you can take your own bedding, outdoor tables, chairs, clothes, any other gear that you may need and just load it into the camper.

Share the cost

Rent a big 6 berth and share the cost with friends. Glastonbury is a very social event. You will meet your neighbours in the camping field and make friends for life. Or, if you want to cosy up, choose a smaller camper and shut the door on the world.

Arriving from overseas and going to the Glastonbury Festival campsite.

Arrange for an airport pick up or collect from a depot close to the airport. This will be either London Heathrow or Gatwick for long-haul flights or Luton, Stansted, Bristol, Exeter for short hauls.
